December 2007
This was my first full length release. I was 20 at the time and having fun making jazzy electronica by mashing up samples and writing beats. By the time I finished writing this set, I realised that I wanted to take the whole jazz sampling thing a lot further, a lot.. well.. jazzier. The first attempt at this can be heard in "The Hermit" here, which is a bit out of place on the album and, well, let's say that it really sounds like a first attempt.
Overall this album is best when it's jazzy downtempo. Monastery, Hangman and Trappist are probably the best cuts. They have that sleepy, lo-fi, bedroom downtempo feel and I think it works quite well. I reworked Monastery three years later, that version can be heard on the release Iceworm 535.
It was originally released under the name Somnambulist. But let's keep things a bit tidier eh? You can download it for free here.
